GOD WORKING ON US AND BUILDING US INTO HIS CHURCH!
...you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house. 1 PETER 2.5
Together as followers of Jesus we are committed to EFFECTIVE DISCIPLESHIP within the context of RELATIONSHIP and AN IMPACTFUL CHURCH that is both 'GATHERED' and 'SCATTERED' into our world.
Throughout the New Testament we see a biblical pattern for discipleship and its multiplication effect (followers of Jesus becoming more like Him and making other followers of Jesus), and this often takes place within authentic community (people knowing and loving one another).
We also see the Church experiencing significant impact when its people are committed to gathering together AND also willing to engage their world around them. Our church is leaning into these principles and ready to respond to what God is calling us into.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
At The Vine, everything centers on Jesus. Here's a brief look at what we believe. Our Guiding Principles and our full Statement of Faith are available below.
GOD
There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6.4; Matthew 28.19)
JESUS
Jesus Christ is fully God and became fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, ascended to the Father, and will one day return in power and glory. (John 1.1–3; Romans 5.6–9; Acts 1.9–11)
OUR NEED AND GOD'S GRACE
God created us good, in His image, but sin separated us from Him. Salvation is a free gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. It can't be earned, only received. (Genesis 1.26–27; Ephesians 2.8–9; Romans 10.9)
NEW LIFE
When we trust Christ, we are born again and begin a daily, personal relationship with God. Through the Holy Spirit we grow to become more like Jesus. (John 3.3; 2 Corinthians 5.17)
THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit lives in every believer and empowers us for worship, witness, and service. We believe the gifts of the Spirit are for today, and if exercised, should be in a way that is orderly and builds others up. Our services are worshipful and reverent, focused on Jesus and the teaching of His Word. (Acts 1.8; 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Corinthians 14.40)
BAPTISM AND COMMUNION
We practice water baptism by immersion as a public declaration of new life in Christ, and we share the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Jesus' death until He comes again. (Romans 6.4; 1 Corinthians 11.26)
MARRIAGE
We believe marriage was designed by God as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ's love for His Church. (Genesis 2.24; Matthew 19.4–6; Ephesians 5.31–32)
THE CHURCH
The Church is the family of God, called to love one another and share the good news of Jesus with the world. (Matthew 28.18–20; Ephesians 2.19–22)
HEALING AND PRAYER
We believe God still hears and answers prayer, including prayer for healing. (James 5.14–16)
OUR HOPE
We look forward to Jesus' return, the resurrection of those who belong to Him, and a new heaven and new earth where God makes all things new. (1 Thessalonians 4.16–18; Revelation 21.1–5)
